Bio

Dr. Bhatla is a fellowship-trained interventional pain management specialist who has received extensive training in both the field of anesthesiology and interventional pain medicine. He takes pride in providing patient-centered care in which he develops individualized treatment plans for his patients in order to assist them in maintaining their active lifestyle and improving their quality of life. He is an expert in providing minimally invasive therapeutic injections which can decrease the need for extensive surgery whenever possible. Dr. Bhatla is a Texas native who grew up in the DFW area and attended The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School where he studied under many Nobel laureates. He ultimately chose The University of Illinois at Chicago for his residency training in anesthesiology where he was privileged to care for patients in a bustling academic center in the heart of a major metropolitan city. He collaborated closely with many world-renowned researchers and clinicians where he gained a thorough understanding in the fields of pain and anesthesiology. During his final year of residency, he was also elected as chief resident by his colleagues, and was afforded the opportunity to spearhead an international medical mission in underserved areas in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Prior to moving back to Texas, Dr. Bhatla chose to undergo further specialized training in the field of pain management and completed an interventional pain management fellowship at the University of Illinois. Dr. Bhatla is double board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine. He is also a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists as well as the International Spine Intervention Society. His training and experience have contributed to his philosophy of quality patient care with an understanding and respect for chronic pain. His pleasant demeanor and excellent bedside manner help put patients at ease during an often difficult time.
